Auria Health

Clinical decision support that flags risk before it reaches the bedside.

About Auria Health

Auria Health turns the data hospitals already collect into early warnings. Vitals, labs, medication records, and clinical notes flow through models that catch patient deterioration hours before a human would, giving care teams time to act instead of react. The platform now monitors over six and a half million patients annually across 320 hospitals.

The company was started in 2018 by a critical care physician and a machine learning researcher whose collaboration began with a single question: why do hospitals collect more data than ever, yet sepsis still kills patients whose decline was visible in the numbers twelve hours earlier? The answer was not a lack of data. It was that the signal was buried under noise, spread across systems, and arriving at staff who were already stretched past capacity.

The problem in detail

Critical events like sepsis, cardiac decompensation, and respiratory failure rarely come out of nowhere. They announce themselves quietly: a creeping heart rate, a subtle lab trend, a nurse's note about confusion. Individually, each signal is easy to dismiss. Together, they form a pattern that is obvious in hindsight. Auria's job is to see that pattern in real time.

How Auria works

The platform integrates directly with existing electronic health record systems, so nurses and physicians never have to learn or log into another tool. Models run continuously against the live patient record and score risk across multiple conditions simultaneously.

  • Continuous risk scoring for sepsis, cardiac arrest, respiratory failure, and unplanned ICU transfer
  • Alerts routed to the right clinician through the channels hospitals already use
  • Every alert links to the specific data points that triggered it, so clinicians can verify in seconds
  • Alert thresholds tuned per unit to keep false positives low and trust high
  • Outcome dashboards that let quality teams measure impact month over month

Why clinicians trust it

Alert fatigue kills adoption faster than any technical failure. Auria's design philosophy is ruthless about this: an alert that gets ignored is worse than no alert at all. The system is tuned so that when it speaks, it is worth listening to. Hospitals report that nursing staff, often the most skeptical audience for new technology, become the platform's strongest advocates within months.

Measured outcomes

Partner hospitals have documented meaningful reductions in sepsis mortality, shorter ICU stays, and fewer unplanned transfers. One 400-bed regional medical center attributed dozens of avoided codes per year to earlier intervention driven by Auria alerts.

Working with Hydra Labs

Hydra Labs rebuilt Auria's web presence ahead of their expansion into new hospital systems, translating complex clinical evidence into a story that hospital executives, clinicians, and IT directors could each evaluate on their own terms.

Our commitment

Give care teams a head start on every patient.
